Score Guarantee — Contractual Terms
Version v1.0-2026-05-03 · Effective May 3, 2026
This is a legal contract between the merchant and AI Catalog Score — not marketing copy. Refunds triggered by these clauses are processed automatically via Shopify Billing API app credits, with no manual review required.
This page describes the contractual money-back guarantee included with every paid subscription to AI Catalog Score on the Shopify App Store. By installing the app on a Shopify store and accepting these Terms in-app, the merchant ("Merchant") accepts these terms.
1. The Promise
For every fix the Merchant applies through AI Catalog Score — including auto-fixes, bulk fixes, and AI-generated content — the app records the product's AI Catalog Score before applying and re-audits immediately after. If the resulting improvement is less than 10 points, the fix is considered unsuccessful under this guarantee.
A fix that yields a score improvement of 10 points or more is considered successful and is not eligible for refund.
2. Refund Mechanic
When a Merchant qualifies for the guarantee on at least one fix in a billing month, AI Catalog Score will issue a Shopify app credit equal to the full price of that month's subscription. The credit is applied automatically to the next Shopify invoice via the Shopify Billing API.
There is no claim form, no approval delay, and no manual review required. The refund is automatic — issued either:
- Immediately upon Merchant claim from the Score Guarantee page in the app, OR
- Automatically by background process 30 days after the fix was applied if the Merchant has not already claimed and the fix did not meet the +10-point threshold.
3. Scope of Coverage
Covered:
- Auto-fixes triggered from the Checklist page
- Bulk fixes applied from the Bulk Fix page
- LLM-generated descriptions, alt text, tags, SEO titles
- Category, vendor, type, and metafield writes initiated by the app
Not covered:
- Catalog edits made directly in Shopify Admin without going through AI Catalog Score
- Score regressions caused by external factors (pricing changes, inventory going to zero, third-party app conflicts) verifiable in the audit history
- Refunds requested for fixes that did improve the score by 10 points or more — those fixes are considered successful
4. Refund Limits
- One refund maximum per billing month per shop, regardless of the number of unsuccessful fixes during that month.
- Refund amount equals the full price of the active subscription tier at the time of the fix.
- Free-trial periods are not refundable in cash; the trial extends by one month instead.
- Free-tier accounts (no recurring charge) are not eligible for monetary refunds; the contractual remedy is removal of the unsuccessful fix and re-application up to three times at no cost.
5. Eligibility
The guarantee is active for any Shopify store that:
- Has installed AI Catalog Score, AND
- Has accepted these Terms (acceptance is captured the first time the store owner or a collaborator opens the app post-install), AND
- Holds a paid subscription on the date a fix is applied.
6. Changes to These Terms
If we change the threshold, refund mechanic, or scope of coverage, we will:
- Bump the
GUARANTEE_TERMS_VERSION constant.
- Prompt the Merchant for fresh consent on the next app load.
- Continue to honor the previous version's terms for any fix applied before the version bump.
7. Performance Pricing Tier (optional)
A separate optional subscription tier — Performance — is available in the Pricing page. Its terms are governed by these clauses in addition to the Score Guarantee above:
- Base price: $0/month.
- Variable price: 5% of the Merchant's measured AI revenue uplift over the billing month, computed from AI-attributed orders captured by AI Catalog Score's per-agent attribution layer (the AI Agent Traffic dashboard).
- Cap: $5,000 USD per billing month, regardless of the actual uplift size.
- Uplift formula:
uplift_month = max(0, AI_revenue_month - AI_revenue_baseline). The baseline is the Merchant's average monthly AI-attributed revenue over the 30 days preceding the switch to the Performance tier (or 0 if no pre-tier history).
- Recommended baseline: stores doing $500,000+/month in Shopify revenue. Not enforced as a hard gate — smaller stores can opt in but the monthly charge may be erratic due to lower signal volume.
- Billing cycle: uplift is computed on the 2nd of each month for the month that just closed; the charge is submitted to Shopify Billing API as an
AppUsageRecord against the Performance subscription. The Score Guarantee in sections 1-6 still applies in full to fixes applied while on the Performance tier.
8. Contact

This guarantee is the operational implementation of our promise to Merchants. Our business model is aligned: we make money only when your AI Catalog Score actually improves.
